Carol RascoCarol Rasco served as Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy from 1993 to 1997. As the President's chief domestic policy advisor, Rasco directed the President's Domestic Policy Council (DPC), which consisted of Cabinet Secretaries and heads of domestic agencies. The Domestic Policy Council was responsible for helping to shape, implement and articulate the President's domestic policy agenda. While working on the Domestic Policy Council Rasco worked on a variety of issues including health care, education, violence and crime prevention, employment, state and local communities, civil rights, Americorps, housing and homelessness, Empowerment Zones, and the arts. The health care issues contained in the records include AIDS (1993 and 1994), children’s health, disabilities, drug and alcohol abuse, Medicaid and state Medicaid waivers, and Medicare. In December 1996 President Clinton named Carol Rasco to be Senior Advisor to the Secretary and Director of America Reads Challenge.
