Jazzing Things Up: Creating America’s Gift to Music
3rd - 8th grades
This presentation will focus on the birth and development of jazz and the musicians who helped create and define this American art form. This program will feature the African-American influence on jazz and will demonstrate how the genre has influenced musical development throughout the world. Jazzing Things Up will feature music along with dramatic presentations by the Fine Arts Department at Parkview Arts and Science Magnet School. Space is limited.

Jazz 101
3rd - 8th grades
Students will experience the sights and sounds of mid-20th century jazz through “Jazz 101,” a brief introductory presentation that will preview the artists and their music featured in the exhibition. Designed to be grade-level specific, the tour will highlight the faces and names that have shaped this uniquely American genre.

“Celebrating Cultures” International Village at Riverfest
1st – 8th grades
Close out the school year with an international festival of activities sponsored by the Clinton Foundation and Riverfest. “Celebrating Culture” gives students an opportunity to enjoy music, cultural performances, arts, crafts and foods from around the world. Schools will register and showcase a culture, country or cuisine of their choice. This activity is designed to be grade level specific. More details to be announced.
