Minyon Moore served the Clinton Administration as Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Political Affairs 1997-98, Assistant to the President and Director of Public Liaison 1998-99, and Assistant to the President and was the first African American appointed Director of Political Affairs 1999-2001. As Director of the White House Office of Political Affairs, she served as the principal political adviser to the President, Vice President, First Lady and senior White House staff, with primary responsibility for planning outreach and directing the political activities of the White House. As Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison, Moore served as the Administration’s principal intermediary to non-government organizations and constituencies. There she served as Political Director and Constituency and Outreach Director. In those capacities, she worked closely with local and state leaders as well as leaders of community groups, including the National Rainbow Coalition. She coordinated voter registration efforts with the Congressional and Senatorial Campaign Committees and the Democratic Governors Association. She came to the Clinton Administration after serving as the national political director of the Democratic National Committee for the 1996 cycle. She also worked on Jesse Jackson’s 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns and then with Micheal Dukakis on his 1988 national campaign. During her service in the Clinton White House, Minyon Moore was an active member of the task force that helped develop the President's Initiative on Race (PIR) and was a leading force behind the Initiative. Moore was an essential voice in selecting key representatives and events. In a 2024 interview with The 19th News, Moore stated “I became very familiar with the politics of people of color, the politics of Black people, and then I was able to expand my base...” “When I go into a room, if I don’t see Asian Americans, if I don’t see anyone in the LGBTQ community, if I don’t see Black women — and sometimes if I don’t see White men — I’m like, ‘OK, well, what’s wrong with this table?’ That’s how I was trained. I was trained to see who is not at the table, and that’s been an important benchmark for me in how I like to lead today.” (The 19th News). Minyon Moore was appointed to serve as the Chair of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, held in August 2024 in her hometown of Chicago, where she oversaw the planning and execution of the nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz as the party’s nominees heading into the 2024 general election. Currently, Moore leads Dewey Square Group’s State and Local Affairs and Multicultural Strategies practices with clients ranging from the Fortune 100 to startup nonprofits seeking counsel for developing strategies that address emerging consumer markets and achieving their public policy goals. She specializes in building coalitions and brand awareness strategies for corporations while at the same time effectively addressing their state and local public policy issues.
