Alvin “Al” From is the founder of the Democratic Leadership Council. He also served as its CEO from its creation until he stepped down in 2009. From and the DLC are credited with the creation of the center-left politics of the Clinton administration, alternatively known as the Third Way, or the New Democrats brand of politics. Records to be opened for this FOIA include preparation and planning emails concerning the Third Way forum with President Clinton, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Prime Minister Wim Kok of the Netherlands, and Prime Minister Massimo D’Alema of Italy.

The Executive Office of the President (EOP) subsystem of the Electronic Records Archive (ERA) contains electronic records created or received by Clinton Administration officials. These records are stored in Search and Access Sets (SAS) that represent their originating computer program. The Automated Records Management System (ARMS) is a database that contains email records of the Executive Office of the President. This system maintained unclassified Presidential email.

Collection is open to all researchers. Access to Clinton Presidential Records is governed by the Presidential Records Act (PRA) (44 U.S.C. Chapter 22, as amended) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 U.S.C. 552, as amended) and therefore records may be restricted in whole or in part in accordance with legal exemptions.
