Her records cover a variety of domestic policy issues including education, budgetary concerns, gun control, welfare, health care, community service, youth violence, civil rights, media literacy, and gambling. Scope and Content Note As a staff member in the White House Domestic Policy Council, Anna Richter helped coordinate communications and events for the President and Vice-President. She left the White House at the end of the Clinton Administration to work as a speechwriter for Oregon’s State Superintendent of Public Education, as well as the communications director for the Democratic Party of Oregon, from 2001-2004. In 2004, she began working as a senior advisor and communications director to Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, and served on his re-election campaign in 2006 as communications director and strategist. After Governor Kulongoski left office in 2011, Richter went to work with the Gallatin Public Affairs group in Portland, Oregon. This collection highlights topics relating to a wide range of domestic policy issues, including education, the budget, gun control, health care, welfare, community service, youth violence, civil rights, media literacy, and gambling. There are a significant number of items relating to domestic policy-related events around the country at which President Clinton appeared, as well as a significant number of items relating to the 2000 State of the Union. There are also many items relating to the legacy of President Clinton and the accomplishments of the Clinton Administration, produced at the end of President Clinton’s second term. The records include reports, correspondence, press releases, background information on various domestic policy topics (in a question and answer format), notes, document drafts, press papers, transcripts, schedules, directories, audiovisual materials, and memoranda.
