He has also served as the Romanian Ambassador to the United Nations and as the director of Romanian broadcast television during the Romanian Revolution. The Ambassador passed away in 2005. The material responsive to this FOIA case consists of State Department cables that mention Ambassador Munteanu. These include a February 1993 Romanian press summary, a July 1993 note from President Clinton to President Iliescu, and an April 1994 cable regarding the presence of Romanian dignitaries at the funeral of former President Richard M.
