Scope and Content Note Bruce Reed spent the entire eight years of the Clinton Administration in the Domestic Policy Council rising from a Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy in 1993 to serving as Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy Council (DPC) and Director, DPC from 1997 thru 2001. His hand was visible in the implementation of the Clinton Administration’s domestic policies, especially in the areas of welfare reform, crime, education, and tobacco. The Tobacco series covers all facets of Reed’s involvement with bringing the tobacco companies to a settlement with state and federal governments. The records include agendas, articles, briefing books, letters, legislation, memos, schedules, speech material, talking points, and weekly reports.
