This series of General Files contains miscellaneous records relating to Chris Jennings’ meetings and various health care topics. The records include correspondence, faxes, emails, handwritten notes, meeting contact lists and forms, fact sheets, and memoranda.

Within the Domestic Policy Council, Christopher “Chris” Jennings was Special Assistant to the President for Health Policy from 1995 to 1997 and Deputy Assistant to the President for Health Policy Development from 1997 to 2001. Mr. Jennings was charged with developing and implementing the Administration’s health care policy. In this capacity, Mr. Jennings coordinated and oversaw the health policy work of numerous federal agencies, including the Office of Management and Budget and the Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury, and Labor. He also had lead responsibility for communicating and advocating Administration health policy to the Congress, state and local governments, health care interest groups, and the media. Before his White House appointment, Mr. Jennings was the Senior Legislative Health Reform Advisor to the Health Care Financing Administration where he worked closely with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, assisting her in preparing for hearings and meetings with Congress on health care.
