Scope and Content Note The materials in FOIA 2017-1093-F are a selective body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related material. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request 2017-1093-F was for records pertaining to climate change from the White House Office of Environmental Initiatives. The majority records processed are from the files of Roger Ballentine, Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives and President Clinton’s Climate Change Coordinator from 1998 thru 2001. This FOIA also contains files from the Environmental Initiatives General Files collection and a small number of records from Angie Mizeur, a Special Assistant to Ballentine. The Office of Environmental Initiatives records in this collection cover a variety of issues, including global warming, greenhouse gases, the ratification and implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, efficiency and emission improvements, sustainable development and energy in emerging economies, and congressional consultations over climate change negotiations. The records contain letters, memos, press releases, briefing books, newspaper articles, reports, fact sheets, transcripts of congressional testimony, and handwritten notes.
