He graduated from the University of Maine in 1967 and received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1970. He is a federal judge in the United States District Court for the District of Maine. He was nominated to the court by President Clinton on May 11, 2000 and was confirmed by the Senate on June 30, 2000. Mr Singal practiced law from 1970 until his appointment to the bench.
