The Fellowship Foundation sponsors the National Prayer Breakfast, which is an annual event that is held in Washington, D.C. The Fellowship Foundation sponsors the National Prayer Breakfast, which is an annual event that is held in Washington, D.C. The National Prayer Breakfast was started by a Methodist minister, Abraham Vereide in 1953 and upon his death in 1969, Mr. Coe took over the leadership. The National Prayer Breakfast has been attended by every sitting president since Dwight D. Eisenhower. In her 2003 memoir, “Living History,” Hillary Clinton recalled Mr. Coe as “a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith, who wants to deepen his or her relationship with God and offer the gift of service to others in need.” 1 This collection contains correspondence between Douglas Coe and President and Mrs. Clinton, some congressional correspondence, draft correspondence and handwritten notes. The majority of the correspondence relates to the National Prayer Breakfast and the Senate and House prayer meetings.
