The collection dates from January 1996 to August 1999. John Norris has long worked in the diplomatic, non-governmental organization, or human rights fields. He was the director of communications for the International Crisis Group. During the Clinton administration Norris worked as a speechwriter for the U.S. Agency for International Development and then as director of communications for Deputy Secretary of State, Strobe Talbott. Later Norris would serve as the Chief of Political Affairs for the United Nations Mission to Nepal. Under President Obama he was named to the Global Development Council. Most recently he has worked for the Center for American Progress. A significant number of records in this collection remain closed for national security reasons.
