Kathleen “Katie” McGinty served as Deputy Assistant to the President concerning the environment and then Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). McGinty served in this position from 1993 until 1998. She had served as an advisor concerning the environment to Senator Albert Gore before the Clinton Administration. Her 2013 website (www.mcginty.ngpvanhost.com) states that during her time as Chair of the White House CEQ, “…she worked to reconcile environmental and economic challenges, pushing forward entrepreneurial policies to combat climate change, rebuild dirty and abandoned properties, release more information concerning toxic pollution to affected communities, restore key ecosystems like the California Bay Delta and the Florida Everglades, and build new environmental protections into trade agreements.” This collection consists of records from the White House Counsel’s Office and Security Office relating to McGinty’s hiring and then appointment as Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality. The WHO bucket contains email created or received by individual with an Executive Office of the President White House user account not identified as CEA, NPR, or OPD. The CEA bucket contains email created or received by an individual with a Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) White House user account. The Default bucket contains email created or received by unknown or un-recognized email accounts. Email found within the Default bucket often includes email created or received by offices or individuals outside the Executive Office of the President. ARMS emails are arranged by topic, there-under by bucket, and there-under chronologically by creation date. Access Collection is open to all researchers.
