It contains correspondence, memoranda, notes, lists, and emails. Scope and Content Note The materials in 2018-0016-F are a selective body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related material. Larry Ellison, a native of Chicago, got his start in 1977 when he co-founded Software Development Laboratories. For a period of two years Ellison and his partners worked on a project called “Oracle”. From there they formed Relational Software Inc. in 1979; three years later, in 1982, the company changed its name and became Oracle Systems Corporation. In the files of the White House Office of Records Management (WHORM), documents responsive to this FOIA request include correspondence, memoranda, notes, lists, and emails. There are letters sent by President Clinton individuals (Ellison made the list of those responded to) who supported securities litigation reform. He explains why initial support of the measure was replaced by opposition. A memo to President Clinton from Marsha Scott focuses on three issues with a California theme to them: Robert Shapiro (O.J. Simpson’s lawyer), a meeting with Silicon Valley CEOs that included Ellison, and criticism from Poz ( the largest AIDS magazine) directed at the Clinton Administration for failing to take action on the recommendations of the AIDS Council. Ellison’s philanthropic activities are highlighted in a letter from President Clinton honoring him for being chosen by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) as the “Coach” of the 1997 Muscle Team.
