Scope and Content Note Laura Capps began her career at the White House in 1995 as an assistant to George Stephanopoulos. From 1997-1998, she served as a speechwriter for President Clinton, where she drafted remarks and speeches primarily covering domestic topics such as memorial dedications and individual tributes. The Laura Capps collection includes primarily speech drafts and background materials used for writing speeches, as well as transcripts of speeches. The documents that comprise this collection are made up of drafts, memos, faxes, press releases, schedules, biographical information, internship applications, video remark requests and proposals, press clippings, correspondence, handwritten notes, and publications.
