This collection contains the files of Lee Satterfield, who served as Staff Director in the Office of Public Liaison from 1995 to 1997. The records consist of correspondence, calendars, speeches, handwritten notes, memoranda, briefings, press releases, talking points, guest lists, and printed emails, concerning a variety of issues, including community outreach, Africare, civil rights, veteran affairs, National Performance Review, partial birth abortion, drug abuse prevention, POTUS foreign travel, foreign affairs, welfare, women’s issues, World War II’s 50th anniversary, and the Pope’s visit to the United States in October 1995. Satterfield’s files from her previous position in the Office of Scheduling and Advance includes records on the President’s June 1994 foreign travel to Italy (Rome, Nettuno, Vatican City); Normandy aboard the USS George Washington; and the United Kingdom (Oxford and Portsmouth).

This collection contains the files of Lee Satterfield, who served as Staff Director in the Office of Public Liaison from 1995 to 1997. Satterfield focused on managing OPL staff; administering office policies and procedures; cultivating relationships with key and potential new constituencies; and developing public support for legislation aligned with the Clinton Administration’s goals. In 1995, she also served as the White House contact for the World War II Commemoration Committee, which coordinated multiple events in recognition of the 50th anniversary of World War II. Before serving in the Office of Public Liaison, Satterfield worked in the Office of Scheduling and Advance from 1994 to 1995. She served as the Deputy Director for Scheduling for the President and Special Assistant to the President. After her work in the White House, she became Deputy Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Labor under Secretary Alexis Herman. The records consist of correspondence, calendars, speeches, handwritten notes, memoranda, briefings, press releases, talking points, guest lists, and printed emails, concerning a variety of issues, including community outreach, Africare, civil rights, veteran affairs, National Performance Review, partial birth abortion, drug abuse prevention, POTUS foreign travel, foreign affairs, welfare, women’s issues, World War II’s 50th anniversary, and the Pope’s visit to the United States in October 1995.
