In early 1994 Nixon traveled to Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and England. Upon his return to the United States Nixon wrote a letter to President Clinton to offer his views on trip. Scope and Content Note The materials in FOIA 2023-0001-F are a selective body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. In 1994, former President Richard Nixon informed the Clinton administration that he intended on taking a trip to Russia and Ukraine as part of what he called a fact-finding mission. Prior to Nixon’s trip, the Clinton administration met with Nixon. Additionally, they had President Clinton place a telephone call to encourage Nixon to remain consistent to the current foreign policy of the U.S. toward Russian and Ukraine. When Nixon returned from his trip he wrote to President Clinton and offered his opinion on the current state of affairs in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and Great Britain.
