This collection (from the University of Arkansas) consists of letters, briefing books, memos, reports, newspaper articles, and handwritten notes from the files of Mack McLarty from 1993 thru 1998. Scope and Content Note This collection contains the files of Thomas “Mack” McLarty, who served as White House Chief of State, Counselor to the President, and Special Envoy for the Americas from 1993 to 1998. This small collection was part of a much larger collection of McLarty records that had been donated to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (U of A). The Clinton Library later determined that original presidential records were contained in this donation. The originals were removed, and this systematic collection was created at the Library. The records in this collection cover such issues as the budget, staffing and personnel, short and long term planing during the first year and a half of the Clinton presidency, and briefing books for the 1994 Summit of the Americas. The records contain letters, briefing books, memos, reports, newspaper articles, and handwritten notes. Record Type Textual System of Arrangement Records of this systematically processed series were found in Clinton Presidential Records: White House Staff and Office Files, Special Envoy for the Americas. This series consists of a subject file subseries, which is arranged alphabetically. Access Collection is open to all researchers.
