The Clinton Administration History Project describes in detail the accomplishments of President Clinton and his advisors for the period 1993-2001. The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) was established in 1988 with the signing of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988. Each organization or agency within the Administration submitted a narrative history along with supporting documents. Items responsive to this FOIA request were submitted to the White House by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in support of their chapter of the history. Open records in this collection include a review of drug counterintelligence architecture. ONDCP was established in 1988 with the signing of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988. The office advises the President and the executive branch on counter narcotic policy and priorities. As established in the law, the director of the ONDCP oversees domestic and international anti-drug efforts. The director advises the President on current policy and procedure and if changes need to be made. This collection has a large number of pages closed for national security reasons.

Staff and Office files were maintained at the folder level by staff members within their individual offices and document all levels of administration activity. Staff and Office files are processed at the folder level, that is, individual documents are not selected and removed from a folder for processing. While this method maintains folder integrity, it frequently results in the incidental processing of documents that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.
