Throughout his career as a lobbyist and political strategist, Manafort has had many international business dealings. One National Security Council (NSC) cable has been processed in response to this request. Written by U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Donald C. Johnson, the cable details a meeting he attended in February 1994 with Deputy Prime Minister Purevdorj. During this meeting they discussed a super computer trade deal in which Manafort was involved. One of the goals was that the deal would generate business in Russia. In August 2018, Manafort was convicted on multiple bank and tax fraud charges.
