Ambassador Phil Reeker is a career diplomat who began his career in the United States Department of State in 1992. During the period requested for this FOIA, Reeker was Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy in Skopje, North Macedonia. He was also Spokesman for Ambassador Chris Hill at the Rambouillet Conference in March 1999. Soon after March 1999, Reeker returned to the United States and was Director of Press Relations for a year before becoming Deputy State Department Spokesman/Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. Reeker returned to Hungary in 2004 as Deputy Chief of Mission and served there until 2007. In 2007, Reeker was posted to Iraq as the Minister Counselor for Public Affairs. In 2011 Reeker was Ambassador to North Macedonia. He later served as Consul General in Milan and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. In August 2021 Ambassador Reeker assumed the post of Charge d’Affaires to the United Kingdom. A significant number of records in this collection remain closed for national security reasons.
