Cohen spent two years in the White House press office as an aide to Dee Dee Myers and George Stephanopoulos and over three years as First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Deputy Communications Director. The files contain faxes, memorandums, correspondence, reports, news clippings, and publications which relate to television, magazine, and speaking engagement requests for the First Lady. Scope and Content Note Steve Cohen graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in political science. He began his career with Governor Bill Clinton working on his 1992 presidential campaign in Little Rock, Arkansas. He became one of the campaign’s traveling press aides and traveled with Governor Clinton and his top advisers. Cohen went to work in the White House after the campaign. He spent 2 years in the White House press office as an aide to Dee Dee Myers and George Stephanopoulos and 3½ years as First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Deputy Communications Director. After leaving the White House he worked for a nonprofit technology foundation, served as spokesman for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and spent five years in public relations work outside the government. He later began a new career in Hollywood. He co-wrote the television series called “Jack & Bobby” and later worked on the television series “Commander in Chief”. The Steve Cohen collection includes faxes, memorandums, and correspondence, which consist of television, magazine and speaking engagement requests for Hillary Rodham Clinton. The records also include news clippings, reports, and publications. Record Type Textual System of Arrangement The folders are arranged alphabetically and chronologically by topic. In the files of Steve Cohen there were several 3½’ diskettes containing various transcripts of Hillary Rodham Clinton. The materials from these diskettes have been processed electronically and are available for research in an electronic format. Access Collection is open to all researchers.
