The collection includes of various communications including unsolicited recommendations from Mr. Jobs for the new Surgeon-General, and for Secretary of Defense, Christmas greetings, thank-you notes, and an invitation for the President and the first family to attend a special screening of the animated film "A Bug's Life"." Steve Jobs was an American entrepreneur, businessman, inventor, and industrial designer. He and his original partner Steve Wozniak are widely recognized as two of the most important pioneers of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s and 1980s. Mr. Jobs served as the Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple Inc. from 1976 -1985 and again from 1997 to 2011. He was also CEO and majority shareholder of the motion picture production company Pixar, and a member of The Walt Disney Company's board of directors following its acquisition of Pixar in 2005. He was the owner of more than 300 United States patents and played a key role in the creation of the Apple II, Macintosh, iMac, MacBook, iPod, iTunes, the iPhone, and the iPad. Records that are responsive to this FOIA include various correspondence between the President and Mr. Jobs including Jobs’ unsolicited recommendations for a new Surgeon-General and Secretary of Defense, Christmas greetings, and an invitation to a special screening of the Pixar film “A Bug’s Life”. This collection also includes a copy of a New York Times crossword puzzle in which Mr. Jobs is the answer to one of the clues, and a copy of a thank you note from the President to Mr. Jobs for his charitable donation of computer terminals to the people of Kosovo.
