This FOIA case contains National Security Council (NSC) records management documents regarding the inaugural Summit of the Americas in Miami, Florida on December 9 through 11, 1994. In December 1993, the Clinton Administration proposed the gathering of North, South, and Central American leaders in the interest of furthering international relations, promoting trade, and supporting democracy in the Western Hemisphere. The NSC materials responsive to this topic date from 1994 through early 1995 and include routine Head of State correspondence in anticipation of the summit as well as memoranda between NSC staff regarding preparations and policy documents.
