It includes correspondence to President Clinton or the National Security Advisor from Senators and Representatives on various subjects regarding Vietnam such as the presidential trip to Vietnam, lifting of the trade embargo, normalization of diplomatic relations, selection of U.S. ambassador, and POW/MIA issues. In addition, the collection includes correspondence from President Clinton in response to Congressional queries and requests. The files also contain background material, routine memoranda, and reports on U.S./Vietnamese relations. Scope and Content Note This systematic collection was processed using National Security Council Records Management System (RMS) numbered documents. During the Clinton Administration, NSC documents were assigned an individual seven digit number by the NSC records management office, to assist in tracking and retrieval. For this project, records were searched in NSC RMS using the keywords, “Vietnam” and “CO,” from 1993 thru 2001. The collection includes correspondence to President Clinton or the National Security Advisor from Senators and Representatives on various subjects regarding Vietnam. The topics cover a variety of issues: a presidential trip to Vietnam, lifting of the trade embargo, normalization of diplomatic relations, Vietnamese refugees, U.S. ambassador selection, POW/MIA issues, and legislation. In addition, this collection includes correspondence 2 2015-0530-S http://www.clintonlibrary.gov from President Clinton, responding to Congressional queries and requests. Background material, routine memoranda, and reports on U.S./Vietnamese relations are also included.
