FOIA 2016-0985-F (Segment 11) is a request for all Clinton Administration White House photographs taken from January 1, 1995 through December 31, 1995. The photographs processed in this segment were created on February 1, 1995 and February 4, 1995 through February 7, 1995. The segment contains photographs pertaining to arrivals, departures, photoops, etc., involving President William Jefferson Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, White House Staff, and others for the time period processed. Photographs from February 1, 1995 are as follows: President William Jefferson Clinton & General John Shalikashvili are photographed outside of the Pentagon. Photographs from February 4, 1995 are as follows: President William Jefferson Clinton watches the Arkansas basketball game on the console television in the Outer Oval Office of the White House. Miscellaneous photographs include the exterior of the White House with snow visible, including views of the West Wing, the Colonnade, the South Lawn, the White House Rose Garden, and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Garden. Photographs from February 5, 1995 are as follows: President William Jefferson Clinton and Chelsea Clinton attend a basketball game between George Washington University Colonials and the University of Massachusetts Minutemen at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, DC. Present is University President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg. The President greets players and cheerleaders after the game and is photographed returning to the White House. Photographs from February 6, 1995 are as follows: President William Jefferson Clinton visits the computer lab in the Old Executive Office Building in Washington, DC, for a demonstration of the official White House web page. Present includes George Stephanopoulos, Dr. Jack Gibbons, and Jock Gill. The President and Stephanopoulos work at computers. President William Jefferson Clinton speaks on the telephone & reads various documents in the Oval Office of the White House. Later the President & Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., speak with astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery during the STS-63 “Near-Mir” mission. Present is NASA Administrator Dan Goldin. A television monitor set up shows a live telecast of the astronauts aboard Discovery. President William Jefferson Clinton speaks with George Stephanopoulos and Gene Sperling in the Outer Oval Office of the White House. Also photographed are Mary Ellen Glynn & Kathy McKiernan working together. Latre the President speaks on the telephone in the Oval Office, then speaks with John Hart in the Outer Oval Office. President William Jefferson Clinton greets staff in the White House Photograph Office including Lori Wiener, Ben Fonnesbeck, and Melanie Connor. Later the President greets Heather Beckel in her West Wing office. President William Jefferson Clinton greets state Secretaries of State in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. President William Jefferson Clinton participates in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in the Oval Office of the White House. Present include Alan Murray, Jill Abramson, All Hunt, Gerry Seib, Michael Frisby, Rick Wartzman, Gene Sperling, Michael McCurry, and Dawn Alexander. Prior to the meeting the President converses with Leon Panetta, George Stephanopouls, Mark Gearan, McCurry & Sperling. 2016-0985-F President William Jefferson Clinton meets in the Oval Office of the White House with William Usery, Jr., regarding the Major League Baseball strike. Present includes Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Bruce Lindsey, and Leon Panetta. President William Jefferson Clinton meets with members of Congress in the Cabinet Room of the White House. Present includes Vice President Albert Gore, Jr. Senator Max Baucus, Senator Kent Conrad, Senator Paul David Wellstone, Senator David Pryor, Senator Tom Daschle, Senator Howell Heflin, Secretary of Energy Hazel O’Leary, George Stephanopoulos, Thomas “Mack” McLarty, and Alice Rivlin. Prior to the meeting the President meets with advisors in the Oval Office including the Vice President, Leon Panetta, Pat Griffin, Secretary O’Leary, and Stephanopoulos. The First Lady is met at the hospital by Michael Covert, Michael Rowen, Issam Soussou, and Donna Bonygen. The First Lady greets staff and participates in a discussion regarding breast cancer. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton greets guests at Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota, Florida prior to departure for Andrews Air Force Base. Anthony Lake meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs Lakshman Kadirgamar (ලක්ෂ්මන් කදිර්ගාමර්; லக்ஷமன் கதிர்காமர்) of Sri Lanka in the West Wing of the White House. President William Jefferson Clinton holds another meeting with William Usery, Jr, in the Oval Office Dining Room. The President proceeds to the Press Briefing Room and makes remarks regarding no resolution to the on-going Major League Baseball strike. Also photographed is Alexis Herman on the telephone. President Clinton meets with a group in the Cabinet Room. Present includes Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., Leon Panetta, Alexis Herman, and Monte Friedkin. President William Jefferson Clinton participates in an interview in Room 459 of the Old Executive Office Building with WMUR New Hampshire. Prior to the interview the President meets with Mark Gearan, George Stephanopoulos, Lorrie McHugh, and Wendy Smith in the Oval Office of the White House. On the way to Room 459 the President greets staff inside the OEOB. President William Jefferson Clinton greets Senator Russell Feingold in the Oval office of the White House. President William Jefferson Clinton participates in a briefing on immigration in the Oval Office of the White House. Present includes Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., Attorney General Janet Reno, Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, and various members of the United States Border Patrol. The President participates in a signing ceremony in the Oval Office, then proceeds to the Roosevelt Room and makes a statement regarding immigration. Also photographed includes Michael McCurry, Leon Panetta, and Carol Rasco. President William Jefferson Clinton & First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton greets members of Congress on the State Floor of the White House. Also photographed is Secretary of Education Richard Riley. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton participates in an interview with Newsday in the Map Room of the White House. Later the First Lady greets Babi Lovett.

Records that were responsive to this FOIA request were found in one collection area and one series— Clinton Presidential Records: Photographs of the White House Photograph Office and the series therein—Photographs Relating to the Clinton Administration. Processing is done at the Folder/Contact sheet level. While this method maintains folder/contact sheet integrity, it frequently results in the processing of photographs that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.

Collection is open to all researchers. Access to Clinton Presidential Records is governed by the Presidential Records Act (PRA) (44 U.S.C. Chapter 22, as amended) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 U.S.C. 552, as amended) and therefore records may be restricted in whole or in part in accordance with legal exemptions.
