FOIA 2022-0198-F is a request for all photographs taken on June 7, 1994, by White House photographers. The photographers assigned to follow the President on this day include Bob McNeely, Ralph Alswang, and Barbara Kinney. Photographers would turn in their daily rolls to the White House Photograph Office for processing and roll number assignment, meaning while images are roughly in chronological order to how they were taken some minor discrepancies will be present depending on what order the material was turned in. FOIA processing for this case will maintain the integrity of the roll numbers assigned. Individuals photographed include President William Jefferson Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, President Francois Mitterrand, Prime Minister Edouard Balladur, then-Mayor of Paris Jacques Chirac, Secretary of State Warren Christopher, Mack McLarty, George Stephanopoulos, Bruce Lindsey, Tony Lake, David Gergen, Steven Oxman, Jenonne Walker, Ambassador Pamela Harriman, National Assembly President Philippe Seguin, French health minister Simone Veil, Molly Raiser, and Mort Engelberg, among others. The President and First Lady were on an overseas trip to Paris, France on this date. Key events responsive to this case include a breakfast with business executives at the Ambassador’s residence, meeting with staff at the Ambassador’s residence, speaking to the French National Assembly, bi-lateral remarks at the Elysée Palace, bi-lateral remarks at the Hotel de Matignon, visiting the Paris Opera House, shopping at Repetto, visiting the Ledoyen restaurant, meeting with American museum representatives, touring the Rodin Museum & the Louvre Museum, meeting with Danielle Isabelle Mitterrand & Marie-Josephe Balladur, and attending a dinner at the Elysée Palace.

Photographs

Records that were responsive to this FOIA request were found in one collection area and one series—Clinton Presidential Records: Photographs of the White House Photograph Office and the series therein—Photographs Relating to the Clinton Administration. Processing is done at the Folder/Contact sheet level. While this method maintains folder/contact sheet integrity, it frequently results in the processing of photographs that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.

Collection is open to all researchers. Access to Clinton Presidential Records is governed by the Presidential Records Act (PRA) (44 U.S.C. Chapter 22, as amended) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 U.S.C. 552, as amended) and therefore records may be restricted in whole or in part in accordance with legal exemptions.

Official records of William Jefferson Clinton’s presidency are housed at the Clinton Presidential Library and administered by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) under the provisions of the Presidential Records Act (PRA).
