This collection consists of photographs of an event on October 7, 1993, with Hillary Rodham Clinton greeting Carly Simon in the receiving line at the Presidential Arts Medal ceremony and dinner at the White House. There are also photos from March 19, 1994, with Hillary Rodham Clinton greeting Carly Simon at a luncheon at the Gannett headquarters in Arlington, VA. On April 14, 1994, the photos include Hillary Rodham Clinton greeting Carly Simon and others at the Elie Wiesel Humanitarian Award ceremony at the New York Public Library. And on August 18, 1998, the photos include the Clintons arriving at the airport at Martha's Vineyard and greeting Carly Simon and others on the tarmac.

The first part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during August 1993 of the Clintons attending a dinner party at Katharine Graham’s residence in Martha’s Vineyard. During the August 1993 period the Clintons also visit with Carly Simon at her residence in Martha’s Vineyard. The Clintons toured the grounds and house of Carly Simon. In addition, the Clintons had dinner with Carly Simon at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Martha’s Vineyard. The second part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during October 1993 of President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton attending the Presidential Arts Medal ceremony and dinner at the White House. President Clinton and Hillary Clinton awarded medals and greet guests at the ceremony. Medal recipients include: Amb. and Mrs. Walter Annenberg, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Bess Lomax Hawes, Stanley Kunitz, Robert Merrill, Robert Rauschenberg, Lloyd Richards, William Styron, Paul Taylor, Billy Wilder, and Arthur Miller. Guests include: Carly Simon, Sen. Clairborne Pell, Edward James Olmos, Angelica Huston, Rep. Dan Glickman, Isaac Stern, and others. Entertainment was provided by the Marine Orchestra. The third part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during March 1994 of Hillary Rodham Clinton meeting with her staff prior to attending the Gannett Luncheon in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Clinton attends the Gridiron Gannett luncheon at the Gannett headquarters and greets attendees including: John Curley, CEO and President of Gannett, Carly Simon, Ken Burns, and Katharine Graham. The fourth part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during April 1994 of Hillary Rodham Clinton attending the Elie Wiesel Foundation Award ceremony at the New York Public Library. Mrs. Clinton delivers remarks at the event and greets guests, including: Carly Simon, and Barbara Streisand. The fifth part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during September 1994 of the Clintons attending a party for the press at Susie Trees’ home in Martha’s Vineyard. President Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Carly Simon sing Happy Birthday to Dee Dee Myers at the party. The sixth part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during October 1995 of President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton arriving in Martha’s Vineyard and visiting Carly Simon at the guest home of Dick Friedman in Martha’s Vineyard. The seventh part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during August 1997 of the Clintons attending several events in Martha’s Vineyard. The Clintons celebrate the birthday of President Clinton at the residence of Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Carly Simon and her band perform at the President’s Birthday party. During the August 1997 period, the Clintons attend Kelly Craighead’s birthday party at Hot Tin Roof. Carly Simon performs at Ms. Craighead’s party. The eighth part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during August 1998 of the Clintons arriving in Martha’s Vineyard and greeting guests and Carly Simon at the airport. The ninth and final part of the collection includes contact sheets containing photographs during August 2000 of the Clintons attending a party at the residence of Harvey Weinstein in Martha’s Vineyard. President Clinton plays the saxophone with Carly Simon and her band at the party. Hillary Rodham Clinton joins the President on-stage and they receive a cake. In addition, during the August 2000 period, President Clinton delivers remarks on the Oceans Act of 2000 at the U.S. Coast Guard station at West Chop Lighthouse in Martha’s Vineyard.
