This collection contains photographs relating to the Israeli and Palestinian Peace Process, as well as material related to the broader topic of Middle East Peace. The collection includes materials from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s July 1996 White House visit, an October 1996 peace summit in Washington, D.C., a December 1998 trip to Gaza City, Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s July 1999 visit to the White House and Camp David, the January 2000 Sheperdstown peace talks, and the December 2000 meeting with President-elect George W. Bush. Key individuals in these records include President William Jefferson Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vice President Albert “Al” Gore Jr., Prime Minister Binyamin (Benjamin) Netanyahu of Israel, Prime Minister Ehud Barak of Israel, Chairman Yasser Arafat of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and King Hussein of Jordan.

FOIA request 2017-0231-F contains photographs from the White House Photograph Office (WHPO) relating to the Israeli and Palestinian peace process during the Clinton Administration. Included are materials relating to arrivals & departures, meetings prior to and following events, speaking engagements including ceremonies and press briefings, signing ceremonies relating to the topic, and conferring with senior administration officials. Materials range from July 9, 1996, which was Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to the White House, October 1 through 2, 1996, during a peace summit in Washington, DC, December 14, 1998, during a trip to Gaza City, Gaza, July 15 through 16, 1999 and July 18 through 19, 1999, which encompasses Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s visit to Camp David and the White House, January 3 through 10, 2000, and during the Shepherdstown peace talks, which were meetings regarding the upcoming Camp David Peace Summit, and December 19, 2000, which was a meeting with President-elect George W. Bush. Records that were responsive to this FOIA request were found in one collection area and one series— Clinton Presidential Records: Photographs of the White House Photograph Office and the series therein—Photographs Relating to the Clinton Administration. Processing is done at the Folder/Contact sheet level. While this method maintains folder/contact sheet integrity, it frequently results in the processing of photographs that are not wholly responsive to the subject area. Some images responsive to this case were also previously processed in FOIA case # 2015-0709-F
