The material included ranges from January 17th, 1997 through January 21st, 1997, with a subsequent event containing a meeting of the 1997 Inaugural Committee. Scope and Content Note The materials in FOIA 2019-0023-F are a selective body of documents responsive to the topic of the FOIA. Researchers should consult the archivist about related material. FOIA request 2019-0023-F contains photographs from the White House Photograph Office (WHPO) and video recordings from the White House Television Office (WHTV) of the 1997 Presidential Inauguration and related events. In addition to the Presidential Inauguration events include pre Inaugural galas, preparing for Inauguration, and the Inaugural Balls. The material included ranges from January 17th, 1997 through January 21st, 1997, with a subsequent event containing a meeting of the 1997 Inaugural Committee. Most of the video selections have been previously released and were not processed in this case. Responsive video includes the Inauguration activities on the Capitol and the Inaugural Balls, material similarly described below in stills. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton attends various parties and galas prior to the 1997 Inaugural including the National Women’s Political Caucus Inaugural Gala and the Blue Jeans Bash. Photographs from January 19th, 1997 are as follows; President William Jefferson Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton depart the White House via Marine One en route to Landover, Maryland for the Presidential Inaugural Gala. Record Type Photographs System of Arrangement Records that were responsive to this FOIA request were found in two collections and two series, Clinton Presidential Records: Photographs of the White House Photograph Office and the series therein – Photographs Relating to the Clinton Administration, and Clinton Presidential Records: Video Recordings of the White House Television Office and the series therein – Video Recordings Relating to the Clinton Administration. Processing was done at the folder/contact sheet level for photographs and at the individual item level for video. While this method maintains folder/contact sheet integrity for photographs and tape run time integrity for video, it frequently results in the incidental processing of photographs and video recordings that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.
