This collection contains photographs relating to an event held at the White House on May 16, 1997, where President William Jefferson Clinton issued an apology to the survivors of the Tuskegee syphilis experiments. The collection includes photo-ops prior to the President's remarks.

FOIA request 2017-0279-F contains photographs from an event at the White House on May 16th, 1997, where President William Jefferson Clinton issued an apology to the survivors of the Tuskegee syphilis experiments. President Clinton greets attendees in the Blue Room prior to the event, which includes a photo-op with the survivors. The survivors include Herman Shaw, Charlie Pollard, Cater Howard, Fred Simmons, Frederick Moss, the daughter of Sam Doner, the brother of Hernest Hendon, and the grandson of George Key. Also included are photographs of the speech in the East Room. Participants also include Vice President Al Gore, Doctor David Satcher, Representatives Maxine Waters, Earl Hilliard, and Louis Stokes, among others. There are also photos of President Clinton meeting in the Oval Office.

Processing is done at the Folder/Contact sheet level.
