It contains correspondence between members of Congress and the President and correspondence from other concerned citizens about the rape incident and more broadly about the presence of U.S. troops in Okinawa. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2016-0402-F) Enniskillen and County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland This collection consists of records mentioning the city of Enniskillen or the surrounding County Fermanagh, in southwestern Northern Ireland. Due to this location, the area was regularly involved in the 40 year sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland known as “The Troubles.” The Clinton Administration assisted in ending this conflict through the 1998 Good Friday Peace Agreement. President Clinton traces his ancestry through his mother to County Fermanagh. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2016-0205-F) Kosovo Refugee Crisis This collection consists of National Security Council Records Management Numbered documents related to the Kosovo Refugee crisis from March of 1998 until June of 1999. The collection contains Congressional correspondence, memoranda between the President and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, and letters from concerned individuals including the former Prime Minister of Yugoslavia, Milan Panic. The records also include memoranda and reports concerning the allocation of money for refugee assistance programs, as well as press accounts regarding the effectiveness of United Nations refugee assistance efforts. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2016-0201-S) Josh Gottheimer This collection consists of the records of speechwriter Josh Gottheimer. Gottheimer served as Special Assistant to the Director of Speechwriting in 1998, where he supervised the Speechwriting Office’s internship program, and as Presidential Speechwriter and Staff Director from 1999-2001. This collection consists of draft and final copies of speeches for President Clinton and Chief of Staff John Podesta as well as the corresponding research, memos, and discussion notes. Gottheimer specialized in drafting speeches for sports events, videos, and radio addresses. There are also numerous speech drafts, memos, and notes from brainstorming sessions from the 1998-2000 State of the Union addresses. In addition to these, the files include correspondence, memos, schedules and calendars of the President, news clippings, articles, speech drafts and final copies, faxes, email, and notes. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2016-0194-S) Laura Capps This collection consists of the speechwriting files of Laura Capps, who served in the Speechwriting Office from 1997-1998. The files include drafts of remarks and speeches primarily covering domestic topics such as memorial dedications and individual tributes. The records in this collection also include background materials as well as transcripts of speeches as delivered. The files contain drafts, memos, faxes, press releases, schedules, biographical information, internship applications, requests and proposals, press clippings, correspondence, and publications.
