Finding Aids

Finding aids describe archival collections to help users navigate their contents and identify material relevant to their research. Finding aids provide a summary of a collection, the system of arrangement of the responsive material, a container list of responsive files, and a link to the related digitized records (if available).

Researchers may use the "Search Box" below to search by keyword or collection number (ex. 2016-0738-F). Researchers may narrow their search results by filtering by finding aid type, record type, or tag. Researchers may also select for "Digitized Content" to view only collections that have been digitized.

Finding Aid Types

Finding aid types include Freedom of Information Act Collections, Systematically Processed Collections, and Mandatory Declassification Review Collections.

Freedom of Information Act Collections provide a summary of a collection requested under the Freedom of Information Act, biographic information concerning the collection, the system of arrangement of the responsive material, a container list of responsive files, and a link to the related digitized records (if available).

Systematically Processed Collections provide a summary of a collection processed systematically, biographic information concerning the collection, the system of arrangement of the responsive material, a container list of files, and a link to the related digitized records (if available).

Mandatory Declassification Review Collections provide a summary of a collection released via a Mandatory Declassification Review, and an Adobe Acrobat file (.pdf) of the declassified records.

Collection Description Tags

A Tag is a descriptive term attached to a finding aid to establish relationships between collection descriptions. Multiple tags can be used to describe collections.

The video recordings processed in this case consist of the 1996 United States Olympics team participating in a receiving line with the Clintons at the White House on August 7, 1996. The video footage is approximately 59 minutes in duration over two White House Television (WHTV) videotapes of the U.S. Olympics team meeting and greeting the Clintons in the Blue Room of the White House.
Mandatory Declassification Review Collection Textual
These Clinton Presidential Records were declassified in response to a Mandatory Declassification Review request for specific closures in Freedom of Information Act case 2006-0325-F (Records Related to General Wesley Clark). General Wesley Clark was the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of NATO from 1997 to 2000. He commanded Operation Allied Force in the Kosovo War, for which he was awarded the first Kosovo Campaign Medal in 2000 by President Clinton. The request was for specific records related to Kosovo in 1999 and 2000. Topics include the plight of forcibly displaced Kosovar Albanians, meetings with the Kosovar Transitional Council, negotiations on the structure of KFOR, and NATO responses to the situation in Kosovo.

This collection consists of records related to Alejandro N. Mayorkas. In 1998, Mayorkas was nominated by President Clinton to be United States Attorney for the Central District of California. Mayorkas served in that position until January 2001 when he left government service for a private law office. From 1989 to 1998 Mayorkas served as Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of California.

This collection consists of records related to Alejandro Mayorkas. The bulk of the records consist of press material and communications regarding Mayorkas’ appointment as United States Attorney for the Central District of California in 1998, and Mayorkas’ involvement in the 1999 Buford Furrow case. Alejandro N. Mayorkas was an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California starting in 1989 and served as Chief of the General Crimes Section in 1996. From 1992 to 1996, he was a prosecutor with the office’s Major Frauds Section and specialized in the areas of money laundering and white-collar crime, including securities fraud and bank fraud. This collection contains emails and other electronic records.

The photographs processed in this case from the White House Photograph Office (WHPO) pertain to President Clinton greeting and meeting with music group Pearl Jam in the Oval Office on April 9, 1994. Band members present include Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready. The band is joined by John Hoyt, Pyramid Communications, and Kelly Curtis, band manager during the visit.

Events include an arrival at Kastrup Airport, arriving at Fredensborg Palace, recording a radio address at Fredensborg Palace, addressing the public in Nytorv Square, arriving at the Margrethe Salon in the Hotel Store Kro, meeting at the Christianborg Palace, laying a wreath at Mindenluden Memorial Park, and at a luncheon at Fredensborg Palace.
