This collection specifically concerns the 1998 Easter Egg Roll that was broadcast over the Internet. The records consist of contracts, correspondents, and press between the participants in the broadcast: The White House Visitor's Office, The National Park Service, and Earthlink. It was the largest cybercast of its kind and provided children across the nation with the opportunity to the watch Easter Egg Roll for the first time. The Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn has been a White House tradition since 1878. In 1998, the White House partnered with Earthlink and other network technology companies to create the first live cybercast of the Easter Egg Roll. It was the largest cybercast of its kind and provided children across the nation with the opportunity to the watch Easter Egg Roll for the first time. The White House Staff and Office Files responsive to this request contain contracts between the White House Visitors Office, Earthlink and the National Park Service, articles and press statements related to the companies involved and correspondence between the participants. The Automated Records Management System [Email] and Tape Restoration Project [Email] Files responsive to this request contain correspondence and articles concerning the live internet broadcast of the White House Easter Egg Roll. The emails may be best described as correspondence between Earthlink representatives and White Staff concerning logistics in preparation for the live internet broadcast. Record Type Textual System of Arrangement Records that are responsive to this FOIA request were found in these collection areas- Clinton Presidential Records: White House Staff and Office Files, Clinton Presidential Records: ARMS Emails, and Clinton Presidential Records: TRP Emails. Staff and Office files were maintained at the folder level by staff members within their individual offices and document all levels of administration activity. The Automated Records Management System (ARMS) is a database that contains email records of the Executive Office of the President. This system maintained unclassified Presidential email. The ARMS dataset is comprised of 6 sub-series of email records called “Buckets.” The buckets include NPR, OPD, POTUS, WHO, CEA, and Default. ARMS emails are arranged chronologically by creation date. The Tape Restoration Project (TRP) is a database consisting of restored emails from the Automated Records Management System from July 1994 through June of 2000. The TRP is a database that contains email records of the Executive Office of the President. This system maintained unclassified Presidential record email. The TRP dataset is comprised of 6 sub-series of email records called “Buckets.” The buckets include NPR, OPD, POTUS, WHO, CEA, and Default. ARMS emails are arranged chronologically by creation date Access Collection is open to all researchers.
