Substantive material in these papers dealing with the role bankers might have played in the general “anything goes” financial climate of the times and the onset of a severe recession in the 21st century would have to be viewed as negligible. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2013-0186-F) JP Morgan Merger with Chase Manhattan Bank This collection consists of records related to the merger between J.P. Morgan and Chase Manhattan Bank that took place in 2001. The historic transaction occurred because of evolving financial conditions and helped the two storied firms stand up to the increasingly radical maneuverings of the big multinational banks. Included in the material for the case are correspondence, newspaper articles, and reports. Of note, none of the documents provide much in the way of information about the merger between JP Morgan and Chase Manhattan Bank. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2013-0187-F) Bank of America This collection consists of records of the Bank of America during the Clinton Administration. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2013-0194-S) Anne Bartley - First Lady’s Office Anne Bartley worked as a staff member in the First Lady’s Office from 1993 to 1995. This collection highlights topics relating to gender equality, White House personnel matters, health care, nonprofit agencies, the arts and humanities, Romania, and presidential boards and commissions. The records include memos, notes, booklets, drafts, pamphlets, articles, correspondence, and newsletters. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2013-0238-S) Mary Ellen McGuire - Subject Files - Office of the First Lady "Mary Ellen McGuire held the position of Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff to the First Lady and Assistant Director of Research from 1998 to 2000. She was one of the First Lady’s primary researchers working on speeches, issues analyses, event briefings and briefing books. She was the liaison with the White House Millennium Council and helped coordinate the White House Conference on Philanthropy held in October 1999. This collection consists of records related to children’s issues, including adoption, children’s health, child care, and international child abduction. The records also contain material on projects of the White House Millennium Council, Americorps, and the White House Conference on Philanthropy. The collection consists of memorandums, faxes, letters, event invitee lists, reports, publications, news clips, and printed e-mail." Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2013-0241-F) Richard Stearns This collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, forms, resumes, news articles, and email concerning the successful nomination of Richard Stearns to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. President Clinton nominated Stearns, a fellow Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, on October 27, 1993. He received glowing letters of recommendation from Senators John Kerry and Edward Kennedy and was confirmed by the Senate on November 20, 1993. This collection also contains standard questionnaires for federal judicial nominees and resumes. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2013-0306-F) American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) This collection consists of records related to discussion between White House Staff and the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). The AFL-CIO is the largest federation of unions in the United States. This collection consists of correspondence regarding various labor issues, memoranda discussing the White House and the AFL-CIO, scheduling and background materials for AFL-CIO events, and publications related to the AFL-CIO. The collection also contains email correspondence between White House Staff discussing a variety of domestic policy topics as they relate to the AFL-CIO. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2013-0359-S Segment 1) Maggie Williams This collections consists of correspondence files and subject files from the records of Maggie Williams, Chief of Staff to the First Lady from 1993 to 1997. In the first segment of correspondence files, the collection contains Ms. Williams' own correspondence, as well as letter, faxes, email, and memos pertaining to events and issues involving the First Lady and her staff.
