Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0797-F) Presidential Review Directive 1 on Yugoslavia This collection consists of records, including email, related to Presidential Review Directives (PRD) or Presidential Decision Directives (PDD) corresponding to the former Yugoslavia or Bosnia and Herzegovina. Records in this collection include documents previously declassified as part of the Central Intelligence Agency’s program “Bosnia, Intelligence, and the Clinton Presidency: The Role of Intelligence and Political Leadership in Ending the Bosnian War.” It also includes administrative paperwork such as profile sheets and tracking documents. It includes several publicly released United Nations Security Council decisions regarding the former Yugoslavia. As this collection deals largely with issues of foreign policy and national security a significant portion of the records are closed for reasons of national security. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0774-F) Interior Department Fiscal Year 1996 Appropriations Bill (H.R. 1977) This collection consists of records relating to H.R. 1977 – Department of the Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 1996. The act provided appropriations for the Department of the Interior, Department of Energy, the Forest Service (Department of Agriculture), Indian Health Service (Department of Health and Human Service), and other smaller agencies. President Clinton vetoed the bill on December 18, 1995. The collection contains correspondence, mostly from Tribal Presidents, Administrators, Chairmen, Chiefs, governors, senators, and congressmen. The files also contain memoranda, statements, and email. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0770-F) Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance is a wilderness preservation organization in the United States based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The organization formed in 1983 and is a partner in the Utah Wilderness Coalition, a coalition of organizations nationwide that support federal wilderness designation for deserving public lands in Utah. Their mission is the preservation of the outstanding wilderness at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, and the management of these lands in their natural state for the benefit of all Americans. This collection contains email, memoranda, correspondence, and news articles. It also contains background material relating to Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance and a packet of information about the America’s Redrock Wilderness Act. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0769-F Segment 1) Kathleen "Katie" McGinty - Council on Environmental Quality The collection consists of records related to Katie McGinty and the Council on Environmental Quality. These records date from 1993 to 1994, when McGinty served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Policy and Director of the Office on Environmental Policy. The collection includes articles, briefing papers, drafts, forms, invitations, legislative materials, letters, lists, memoranda, news clips, notes, original children’s artwork, Presidential Decision Directives, press releases and statements, reports, research, talking points, schedule requests, speeches, and testimony. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0755-F) Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel (ISCAP) This collection was made available via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The FOIA request was for the meeting minutes of the Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel (ISCAP). This collection includes the minutes from the regular meetings of the ISCAP. The committee met regularly, as needed, that was roughly twice a quarter, on a calendar year basis. Included in this collection are the minutes of the ISCAP from 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. The minutes for 2000 were processed as part of FOIA request 2012-0286-F. The ISCAP held its first meeting May 31, 1996 and it held no meeting in January 2001. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0748-F) State Senator Barack Obama This collection consists of correspondence from and concerning Illinois State Senator Barack Obama. The collection consists of written correspondence, emailed correspondence, and White House visitor access records. The topics included in this collection include the proposed Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air regulations, Obama’s election for Illinois State Senate, and his invitation to White House events. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0743-F) United Parcel Service (UPS) Strike This collection consists of records related to the August 1997 strike at United Parcel Service (UPS). The strike lasted 15 days, and the repercussions of the work stoppage were felt worldwide with thousands of packages failing to reach their destinations. The central issue of the strike revolved around the widespread use of part-time employees by UPS. In the five-year contract agreed to between the Teamsters and UPS, provisions were made for 10,000 new full-time jobs. Though President Clinton initially refused to intervene, administration officials sat in on negotiations and encouraged both sides to stay at the negotiating table. This collection consists of correspondence, newspaper articles, memoranda, fact sheets, graphs, lists, email, handwritten notes, and reports. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0742-F) American Airlines Pilot Strike - 1997 This collection consists of records concerning the possible American Airlines pilots strike in 1997. American Airlines and the Allied Pilots Association (APA) were unable to reach an agreement and on February 15, 1997, James Sovich, the president of the APA called for a strike. However, concerned that a strike would disrupt holiday travel, President Clinton created a Presidential Emergency Board to reach an agreement and stop the strike. This collection contains correspondence from public and private figures, including members of Congress, regarding their concerns about the possible strike. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0741-F Segment 2) Alexis Herman - Office of Public Liaison This collection consists of the records of Alexis Herman, Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison, 1993-1997. It contains correspondence, schedules, memoranda, talking points, invitations accepted and regretted by Herman, background materials, and newspaper/magazine articles on a variety of topics. Two subjects dealt with at length in these records are health care reform and the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993. It contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, briefing and meeting materials, invitations, newspaper articles, emails, schedules, and notes dating from 1993 thru 1997. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2012-0739-F) Cynthia A. Metzler - Deputy Secretary of Labor This collection consists of records related to Cynthia A. Metzler and the Department of Labor. In the first Clinton Administration, Cynthia Metzler served as acting Deputy Secretary of Labor, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Administration & Management, Associate Administrator for Administration at GSA, and Associate Director of Presidential Personnel. Metzler served as Acting Secretary of Labor from January 1997 until her resignation in May 1997. This collection consists of articles, forms, letters, memoranda, and press releases. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2012-0726-S) Deanne Benos - Domestic Policy Council Deanne Benos worked as an Associate Director in the Domestic Policy Council from September 1999 to 2001. Her area of expertise was in law enforcement, gun control, crime prevention and related topics. She worked closely with Department of Justice personnel on these issues. Subjects include advertising, background checks, the Brady Law, Columbine and other mass shootings, the COPS program [Community Oriented Policing Services], the crime bill, cyber crime, crime events, elder crime, drug control, gun control, enforcement, injuries, polls, manufacturers, shows and trafficking, gun buy-back program, gun-free schools, ongoing federal lawsuits (John Schmidt binders), youth violence.
