The meeting participants included: Vice President Gore, Strobe Talbott and Sandy Berger. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2014-0122-F) The Association of 2,221 Negro Volunteers This collection consists of records dealing with the Association of 2,221 Negro Volunteers, World War II soldiers, who are considered the first unit involved in the integration of the American military. The integration occurred in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge when President Eisenhower, offered men of color the opportunity to volunteer out of their service units and go to the front lines and fight with white soldiers. Much of this collection revolves around the correspondence of J. Cameron Wade, viewed as the founder of the Association of 2,221 Negro Volunteers, who went to great lengths in writing to President Clinton and other similar higher-ups in an attempt to get the heroic sacrifices of the unit officially recognized. The material found in the collection is comprised of correspondence, notes, memoranda, newspaper articles, and reports. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2014-0130-F) Investigation of the Whereabouts of the U.S. Citizens Who Have Been Missing from Cyprus since 1974 This collection consists of records related to Ambassador Robert S. Dillon’s “Report to Congress on the Investigation of the Whereabouts of the U.S. Citizens Who Have Been Missing from Cyprus Since 1974.” The report was in response to Public Law 103-372, which called for an investigation into the disappearance of five U.S. Citizens (Andreas Kassapis, Kyriacos Hadjichristoudias, Socrates Kapsouris, Christos Libertos, and Kyriacos “Jack” Sophocleous) missing since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in the Summer of 1974. In addition to Dillon’s Report, this collection also includes a memorandum to the President, transmittal letters, and a Department of State press statement. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2014-0159-S) Pam Cicetti This collection consists of the files of Pam Cicetti, the First Lady’s Executive Assistant, from 1993 through 1997. It includes correspondence to Hillary Clinton from a diverse assortment of friends, regular citizens and celebrities. It also contains correspondence from Senators and Representatives, briefing books and background materials related to health care reform and analysis from medical and insurance experts. In addition, this collection also contains background material, memoranda and correspondence related to Gulf War Illness. Lastly, the collection contains State by State political analysis of the economic progress of the country from 1992 to 1994. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2014-0164-F) U.S. v. Alfonso Lopez - Collection Finding Aid Alfonso Lopez was indicted by a grand jury of violating the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990, which forbids “any individual knowingly to possess a firearm within 1000 feet of a school zone,” 18 U.S.C. 922(q). Lopez argued that the Section 922(q) was unconstitutional and moved to dismiss his indictment. The Supreme Court struck down the Gun Free School Zones Act, in a 5-4 opinion, as unconstitutional. This collection consists of copies of excerpts from the Supreme Court hearings, copies and excerpts from house and senate bills, publications of the “Law Week” and the “Congressional Monitor”, correspondence, email, memos, reports, statements, news articles, and press releases. Freedom of Information Act Collection Photographs (2014-0176-F) White House Photos - Photographs of President Clinton's visit to Seattle, Washington on December 1, 1999 Photographs of President Clinton visiting Seattle, WA and attending International trade events, meeting with Non-governmental organizations (NGO) labor and environmental leaders, China trade ministers and meeting with staff at the Four Seasons Hotel on December 1, 1999. Systematically Processed Collection Textual (2014-0209-S) Jennifer Klein - Domestic Policy Council This collection consists of records from the files of Jennifer Klein, a senior policy analyst on the Domestic Policy Council and Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. Klein also was a health policy assistant to the First Lady. The collection contains memos, correspondence, reports, drafts, and talking points. Topics include Medicare, Medicaid, health care reform and the Health Security Act, the 1996 State of the Union, and correspondence between the First Lady and various members of Congress.
