The collection contains memoranda, talking points, letters, reports, press guidance, news articles, and Department of State cables regarding the war in Bosnia. "Ted" Kennedy This collection consists of material regarding Ted Kennedy, who served as a Democratic Senator from Massachusetts from 1962 to 2009. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2008-1268-F) Pardon of Patricia “Patty” Hearst Shaw This collection contains records relating to the pardon of Patricia “Patty” Hearst Shaw. The records consist of reports, correspondence, and tracking sheets. The materials include letters to the President both in support of the pardon of Patty Hearst Shaw, and letters/reports in favor of denial. Patty Hearst was kidnapped in 1974 by the Symbionese Liberation Army, and was convicted in 1976 of armed robbery. President Carter commuted her sentence in 1979. President Clinton pardoned her January 20, 2001. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2009-0387-F) Fair Housing This collection consists of records concerning HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) housing in Beaumont and Vidor, Texas and Moving to Opportunity. The records include a note and memoranda, news articles, and remarks by HUD Secretary Henry G. Cisneros. The note relates to the integration of public housing in Vidor, Texas. The memorandum is from Henry Cisneros and also contains information on the integration efforts for public housing in Vidor, Texas. Freedom of Information Act Collection Textual (2009-0528-F Segment 1) North and South Korea This collection was made available via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The FOIA request was for records relating to the Republic of Korea (ROK), commonly called South Korea; and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly called North Korea. Specifically the request was for: U.S-South Korea summit talks and bilateral relations, North Korea’s nuclear programs, the advancement of U.S.-North Korea bilateral relations, the South Korean economic crisis in 1997, and U.S.-South Korea mutual defense agreements. This first segment begins with the White House Office of Records Management CF files of Counselor David Gergen and ends with the National Security Council’s Office of the National Security Advisor. Due to the highly sensitive nature of foreign relations with North Korean as well as South Korean and U.S. national security, a large number of these records are closed for national security reasons.
